Get your taxes done using TurboTax

The IT-201-X is an amended NY State return. You may have inadvertently clicked the box to create an amended state return.  To remove the state amended return you will have to go back through your state interview and "unselect" the amended return "flag."  Please follow these steps:

1. Sign back in to your return and click on the State Taxes tab.
2. Click on the Edit box next to your state return.
3. On the screen, Let's review your amended return, click I'll choose what I work on.  [See Screenshot #1, below.]
4. On the screen, You Just Finished Your New York Return, scroll to the Other Forms and Voluntary Contributions section.  Click on the Update box next to Other forms.  [Screenshot #2]
5. On the next screen (Additional Tax Situations) click on the Start/Update box next to Change (Amend) a Previously Filed Return.   [Screenshot #3]
6. On the Amended Income Tax Return screen, click the Skip Amended box.  [Screenshot #4]
7. On the next screen, click on Done with Other Forms. 
   
8. The amended NY return (IT-201X) is now removed from your return and you should now be able to file your NY return.
