To get credit for the overpayment:
- Go to federal>deductions and credits
- estimates and other taxes paid>Estimated Tax Payments>start
- Federal estimated taxes for 2021>start
- Answer yes on the next screen that follows
- Next screen, scroll down to Additional payments
- Put the amount that was to be applied. For the date, record the date you filed your 2020 return.
