Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Hi Adriana!
First, I just want to say congratulations on the promotion and raise at your full-time job!!
You will notice on the 2021 W-4 for withholdings, there is a Step 2 for Multiple Jobs or Spouse Works. You will need to complete this section on the W-4 for both of your jobs. For your convenience, I am including a link to the 2021 W-4. The W-4 is located at https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf
In addition, you may choose the optional step 4 of the W-4 for extra withholding. The IRS tax withholding estimator is an extremely useful tool to calculate your potential tax liability for the year. Once you use the estimator tool, you can make a determination if you should have extra withholding on your W-4.
The IRS tax withholding estimator can be found on the IRS website at: https://apps.irs.gov/app/tax-withholding-estimator/income-and-withholding/
You will click on the blue button, Use the Tax Withholding Estimator, which will guide you through a series of question about your specific tax situation. Please note that in the income & withholding step (step 2 of the estimator) you will use the + sign to add your second job. Then you will be prompted to provide income information about each job. Please be sure to answer all questions related to your specific tax situation when using the estimator in order to receive the most complete results.
In summary, you will use the IRS tax withholding estimator to determine your tax liability for your entire tax picture (both jobs and raise). Next you will complete the W-4 indicating that you have multiple jobs in step. Based on the results of the estimator, you may need to complete step 4 of the W-4 for extra withholding.
