Green Dot is a legitimate bank and does partner with Turbotax. However, if you are unsure, you can call Green Dot or Turbotax customer service.
You might receive a Green Dot check if:
1. You requested your tax refund to be paid on a debit card, and the bank was unable to verify your information to issue a debit card, they would mail a check instead.
2. You requested your Turbotax fees be deducted from your federal refund, and the rest of your refund be deposited into your regular bank account, but Green Dot was unable to verify your information to make the direct deposit and mailed a check instead.
