do you get a w-2? if so, who's is the employer on the w-2? the 1099-NEC would indicate to the IRS that this is SE income. however, it is wrong for any employer to issue a w-2 to an employee but put a bonus on a 1099-NEC thus evading its fair share of employment taxes and putting 100% of the burden on the employee.
