Thank you for your suggestion to try 0 in the AGI box for e-filing the other day. Unfortunately, that didn't work...But:
After numerous e-file rejections I think I found my problem.
I paper filed last year (2019) jointly. Our AGI is on record with the IRS, I checked. But, I was never able to e-file even after various attempts at AGI & drivers license combinations, including "0", suggested by CatinaT1.
What I finally discovered was this: We moved to a new address. My wife and I changed our drivers license address.
But, my wife Changed Her Name on her license by changing her middle initial from A to C (her maiden name, C). This does not match with her IRS name, A, or her Social Security name, A. I think this mismatch caused the rejection.
I have two questions.
1. Who requires my state DL information for id verification, TT or the IRS? We don't have a state income tax here, so I don't need the DL for filing in my state.
2. Does this seem like a feasible answer and can this mismatch be fixed without changing her DL again?
