Help needed!
I am in a precarious position. I used a CPA for my tax returns this year and because it was too close to the deadline I asked him to file for an extension. I have repeatedly asked him to share a confirmation/acknowledgement from IRS and NY/NJ State of the extension. But he has still not shared. He has a very casual attitude and is asking that I should trust him. He has also said that because I am due a refund, I don't need to worry about an extension.
I am really worried about his professionalism and I am sure I don't want to work with him. I plan on simply using Turbotax to file for my extension and then find a more reliable CPA to do my returns.
If my CPA has filed for my extension, can I file it again on Turbotax just for my piece of mind? I really don't know whether this guy has done it or no so I don't know if there will be a problem if he has in fact done it.
Is there a way I can check if my extensions have been filed?
