Get your taxes done using TurboTax

You will need Form 1095-A when you prepare your income tax return.

 

You can enter the information from your 1095-A Form by going to the federal interview section..

  1. Select Deductions & Credits 
  2. Scroll down to All Tax Breaks 
  3. Select Medical 
  4. Select Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A) 

Your input in this section will generate Form 8962 if applicable.  

 

Please note, you may not need this form in 2020 if your return has any Excess Advanced Premium Tax Credit.  

The only time you would need to include Form 8962 in your 2020 income tax return is if you are claiming a Premium Tax Credit.

 

Reconciling premium tax credit

 

Form 3895 will also be generated based upon your input in your state return for your health insurance coverage.  It will be filed with your state income tax return for California when you complete your state tax return.

 

You will need to go through your state interview section to generate this form.

  1. Select State in the black panel on the left hand side of your screen when logged into TurboTax.
  2. This will take you to a screen titled Let's get your state taxes done right.  Click continue on this screen.
  3. You will see the following screen titled Status of your state returns.  Select Edit to the right of California.

Add state

Continue through the California screens until you see Did you have health insurance coverage in 2020?

 

Your input in this section will generate the required forms, including Form 3895, for California.
