Get your taxes done using TurboTax
@jkmizz wrote:It appears they have some setting wrong on their downloads that are being blocked at the router level, if you have your router or firewall configured a certain way. May not work for everyone, but I bypassed my router and connected directly through my cable modem for my internet. The Turbo Tax update then appeared when I checked online updates and I was able to download it. It resolved the problem. Then reconnected my internet back through my router.
Worth a shot if you can't get anything else to work.
THIS NEEDS TO BE LISTED AS THE FIX!!!!!!!!!
It's a scary fix as to why it works. Bypassing basic router security let's TurboTax see an update it couldn't see when internet connection ran thru router. Windows 10 also highlights desktop in red right prior to installing the update now found by TurboTax. Red as in, "Are you sure you want to install this update?"
After installing this newfound TurboTax update via the Online Update Check, that couldn't be found with ones computer behind a router, I was able to e-file both federal and state like there was never a problem.
Fortunately for me, taking the router out of the mix was easy. Some won't find it as such.
The TurboTax folks are aware of this fix and are really happy!!!! I was on the phone with them on hold when I came across @jkmizz post right before my own post. When they came back from hold, they were coming to tell me they had nothing to offer. I then told them what I had found and already done while on hold. Excited they were. TBH though, it's scary that this fix was what it took. Bypassing basic router security??????
THANKS @jkmizz !!!! I old the TurboTax people about you. Maybe they'll contact you to thank you proper.
