Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Different "solution" to same problem. Schwab-issued 1099 OID for a tax-exempt bond has numerical dollar and cents entries only in boxes 6, 10, and 11. TT flags the worksheet in which those entries appear as containing an error, so e-file is not possible without some error correction. When viewing the Form1099-OID worksheet, box 10 is pink colored indicating that is where the error lies . If I delete the entry there or replace it with zero, the error disappears. But I am reluctant to do that given it was reported by Schwab, so I click on the left side of Box 10 and then click on the "+" sign that brings up the supporting details. I enter text in the details something like: "From Schwab 1099 OID as positive value, but TurboTax will only accept that value as negative." And then I enter the Box 10 value with a minus sign and it carries to the worksheet with that minus sign and the error is gone. I do not see where it has affected anything else; certainly not my total Federal taxes due.
