Get your taxes done using TurboTax

@AmyC – -

Thank you, AmyC for your assistance.
The problem is now solved and I have now completed filing my return.

For others that may bump into this, here is what happened,
and what the solution was:

While using TurboTax Home Business 2020 for Mac
I attempted to record the (minimal) payment I received from the city where I live, for attending election officer training sessions, and then assisting people at a poling place on election day.

I had recorded this in TurboTax at
Federal > Wages & Income > Less Common Income > Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
I then later learned and confirmed that my State does not require FICA payment in my case,
and that the payment amount is below the threshold required
to even be reported.
So I removed my entry in TurboTax at the same location,
Federal > Wages & Income > Less Common Income > Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C

But when I ran the review process to file my returns,
I got: "Form 8919-T Reason Code must be entered"
as though I were reporting this income
(8919-T is the form where the income would be reported).
So though the data was removed from the form,
the form was still sitting in my return,
and so the TurboTax application was considering it an error,
and asking me to finish filing it out.

AmyC recommended that I delete the form,
and provided these instructions:

“The 8919 is to report the Medicare and Social Security tax. You need to delete the form since you are not filing. See How to Delete.

If the form is staying and you have deleted the entries, you have a piece of data stuck and will need to follow these steps.
Delete the form, see How to Delete
Log out of your return
Try one or more of the following:
Don't use Internet Explorer.
Clear cache and cookies,
Sign in using a different browser.
Sign in using a different device.
Log back into your return.”

and the How to Delete link at
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/accessing/help/how-do-i-view-and-delete-forms-in-turbotax-online/0...
gave me these instructions:

“Here's the general procedure for viewing the forms list and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online:

Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.”

But as I explained to AmyC
I could not find this menu anywhere in my application.
(In retrospect I think this was because the instructions were for TurboTax Online,
while I was using the installed TurboTax application on my Mac.

But I had learned to view the forms by clicking on the "Forms"
icon at the the very top left of the application window.

So when AmyC further suggested:
“Ahh, thank you for explaining what you see. You are in FORMS mode on the desktop version. On a MAC, you click on that form and then push the keyboard button DELETE.
On a windows computer, the bottom left of the form has a spot to click delete.”

So I just went to the form,
hit delete on the keyboard,
said yes to the warning box that popped up,
and then saved and closed,
and reopened the application.
That eliminated the problem,
and I could proceed with filing my return.

So thanks to AmyC for helping me along the way,
and watch out everyone,
for the different procedures needed for the Online version,
versus the PC application version,
verses the Mac application version.
