Get your taxes done using TurboTax

@ kbijwaard

I'm a fellow user and volunteer forum helper.  I'm not a tax expert and don't work for TurboTax.   I mentioned above how you can phone and speak to TurboTax Support about these issues you are having with your 2019 data that transferred into your 2020 return.

I did find an old thread from last year where there was a problem with TurboTax miscalculating 2019 capital loss carryover from a 2018 return, that I believe TurboTax corrected at some point, but some folks who had already filed their 2019 return had to file amended 2019 returns.    I don't know if there are still problems in that section or not; i.e., in the loss carryover amount that flowed forward from 2019 into a current 2020 return.

The bug last year caused some filers to underreport the capital loss on their 2019 tax return, leading to a possible overpayment of tax and/or an understatement of capital loss carryover flowing to 2020.    If you also had a capital loss in 2018 with a capital loss carryover to 2019, you may wish to look at your 2019 return to be sure the capital loss carryover was calculated correctly last year on the 2019 return.

That problem last year may or may not have anything to do with your current capital loss carryover issue, but I'm mentioning that there was a problem last year in that section.  Any further information and assistance will need to come from the folks at TurboTax Support, although it's possible someone might add on to this thread.
