Get your taxes done using TurboTax
@ pfred00 wrote:Solved! I had the same activation problem and the blue dot in the center of the screen. After several HOURS of trying every trick in the book, the last one was checking google for answers. Hopefully you folks sort by the latest date, as all the earlier suggestions in this question trail of tears did not help. The answer is to change your Display setting to 1366 x 768.
Yes, as simple as that and why Intuit did not tell users or make that solution the first answer is beyond me!! I need them to reimburse the purchase price for all the time that I have wasted! Never ever had a problem with installation and I have been using this since around 2004 if not earlier!!
Congratulations!
The screen resolution solution was discovered through various threads in the user community forum before TurboTax Support became generally aware of the issue and cause.
The specific lower resolution that works is not the same for everyone. It depends on their system, desktop monitor vs. laptop screen, etc. The important part, however, is to use a lower screen resolution. If 800x600 doesn't work, users can try 1024x768, or keep working up to another, such as the 1366x768 that worked for your system.
It's bizarre that the program cannot accommodate all modern monitor resolutions.
Some people don't even have to change the resolution but can solve the issue by adjusting the scaling to 100%. Many users have the scaling set to 125%, but lowering it to 100% may solve the problem for some, and is quick and easy to try. Some users might have to adjust scaling and resolution.
