I just stumbled on the solution. If you do your taxes online and go to tools, and save your work as filename.tax2020, you can then go to your desktop version of Turbotax 2020 and start a new return. Click save and it will prompt you for a new file name -- give it something. In the window it will show this new return but you will then see a link stating - "find a tax file" which you can then browse to your downloaded version which will then import.
Nothing like making it difficult TurboTax.
