Tax Topic 152 is nothing more than general information regarding how long it could take to receive your return as it's being processed.
There is NO CODE for needing verification of identity, only a letter. If you need to verify your identity you'll receive a 5071C or 6331C letter in the mail. You are waiting more than 21 days because you have not received the letter and as there is NO CODE for identity verification, the only code you'll see on WMR status is the TT152, the standard code.
PLEASE stop giving out the wrong information to people who are confused. You're causing more panic than what's needed.
I've always had TT152 and always received my refund before 21 days except in 2020 and it's because I had to verify. I had no idea until I called and found out. Two days later, I received the letter.
The IRS needs to create a status code for verification instead of making us wait for a letter. But they don't have one unfortunately.
