Get your taxes done using TurboTax
As of 4.25, this is still bugged on the online version.
I had a credit. I don't think I even reviewed the deferral section on the deductions area, or if i did, i said, no i don't want to defer.
went to federal review time, and it prompted me to fill out schedule SE-T, line 18.
I filled in the correct amount of income i had from end of mar - december, as the form is looking for.
Suddenly I got a bunch of money back on my return. I dug in further, and despite me not asking for a deferral, I was getting one anyway.
If I go to the section on deductions, and again, say explicitly NO, i do not want a deferral, that number still does NOT go away. This is a clear error in the software.
The only workaround is to delete the form, and put a 0 in the box when prompted in the final check. This is not ideal, as though I agree you won't be audited for it, you're still technically not filling the form out correctly and submitting it to the IRS.
Turbotax needs to fix this asap.
