Hello! I've did Upwork Freelancing 2020, made 1,800ish, but didn't receive any 1099 (because Upwork unfortunately doesn't do that). Do I have to upgrade to self-employed?

Get your taxes done using TurboTax
You can enter Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe or Premier but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Self Employed version. Or use any of the Desktop CD/Download programs.

Or There is also The Turbo Tax Free File program which is free for federal and state. And has more forms than the Federal Free Edition, like Schedules A, B, C , D, E, F, EIC, H, K-1, SE, etc.
To qualify for the Free File website you just need to meet one of these 3 things.
AGI $39,000 or less.
Active duty military with AGI of $72,000 or less
OR qualify for EIC (earned income credit.)
In order to use the Free File program, you have to start it at a special website. Try signing in at the top right.

Business income goes on Schedule C, where you report the 1,800ish and deduct your expenses of earning that income. The net amount from Schedule C is reported on Line 3 of Schedule 1. The net amount from Schedule 1 gets reported on Line 10a of Form 1040 whichever. Any form you could ever need is available at irs.gov if not included in your version of TurboTax, and you can always file by mail if you can't e-file everything you need. Don't underestimate the power of manual overrides to make everything else match up if your version doesn’t have everything you need built in.
