I am using the 2020 TurboTax application on Windows 7 (not online)
On Apr 23 my Federal and State Tax Return filing got rejected (twice) due to Foreign Tax Credit issues. Although i followed the TT instructions in the app to fix the problem, there was NO RESOLUTION based on TT feedback.
I then read several posting on this thread and discovered a potential issues in 1099-DIV and Form 1116 due to the usage of "various" in some of the entries. Based on the above:
a) I accessed my 2020 TurboTax Tax Return and using the “View Forms” mode I changed BOTH the 1099-DIV and Form 1116 as follow:
- changed Country from "various" to RIC (in the dropbox scroll all the way up, before Afghanistan)
- changed Date from "various" to 12/31/2020
b) I printed (as PDF) the Tax Return Filing Forms and checked there were NO instances of "various" in my Tax Return Forms (I did a simple seach in the PDF print file for the word "various").
c) I resubmitted the Tax Return to both Federal and State and within 10 min it was ACCEPTED by both.
PROBLEM SOLVED
