Changing from the simplified option is a big deal to the IRS, as is moving back to it. So while you can elect easily in the first year to not use it, changing the election is reportedly quite a pain.
You state you only have dividends so I recommend you review each of your 1099-DIV’s to make sure Box 8 dates are in mm/dd/yyyy format and source in BOTH locations is set to RIC. After reviewing the 1099’s also check the Form 1116 to make sure there are no “various” entries being shown and source is also RIC. Most people are having success in e-filing after these checks. It is a very DETAILED process and a bit of a pain. Post back if successful or not.
