The IRS is very clear about reporting Alaska Permanent Fund Dividends (PFDs). However, a child must meet the filing requirements for a dependent before they are required to file. If their only income is unearned income and it is below $1,100 for 2020, then they are not required to file and you do not have to report the dividends on your return. See IRS Publication 501, page 3 and 4.

- Alaska Permanent Fund Dividends and Resource Rebate payments are taxable to either an adult or a child recipient and must be reported on a federal income tax return. Include these amounts on line 8 of Schedule 1, Form 1040.
