Get your taxes done using TurboTax
I have had the same problem since I first used TT many years ago, and despite my repeated inquiries, it was never resolved. I do not understand why there are entries only in 610 and 11 either, and why I get a repeat error message so I stick a zero as you did and problem is solved.
However, in my situation,. the OID is entirely from tax exempt bonds, and the IRS rules on OID where the source is tax exempt are not clear. There is a reference to a taxpayer option, so it is not clear if tax exempt oid has to be reported.
If there is bond premium, not discount, that is reported, because the effect is to reduce the gross taz exempt interest that is reported. This not affect your tax bill, but net tax exempt income does have an impact on other issues, such as how much tax you pay on social security etc . In theory a discount should do the opposite. I think that if the OID originated from a taxable investment, then more information would be on the oid form and it must be reported to the IRS
Bottom line I am not sure OID from a tax free bond has to be reported, and I think your post related to the same situation. Why TT does not explain that I do not know. The actual IRS instructions for this form
also are confusing when the source is a tax free investment, I hope this helps and I did exactly what you did
to work around this so I could E file.
