Get your taxes done using TurboTax
I have the same issue. I have read that thread referenced in your reply and still am not clear. Can you tell me if I am allowed to simply not enter the 1099-OID info at all (I have only amts in box 6, 10 and 11 and therefore get an error message if I leave the amount in box 10 at all/over zero amt) or if I change the amount in box 10 to zero, despite the fact that it has a positive value? There is NO amt in box 2 (hence the error message). I feel somewhat uneasy entering something different than exists on the 1099, but that seems to be what TurboTax is telling me to do and that seems to be the only way to get rid of the error message.
Am I understand this correctly that the bond premium (box 10) would be an expense that would be reported on Schedule A to reduce my taxes? I am not itemizing, so it wouldn't apply to me but am wondering if that is the situation.
Thank you.
