Amending my return
So I want to amend my married filing jointly return to married filing separately so my husband can get the stimulus check for him and my daughter and he can get the tax breaks on his unemployment. My question is though, we’ve already been sent our refund, but when I do it separately, I end up owing and he ends up getting a bigger return plus then is eligible for the stimulus check. Do I give back the original refund or can they just subtract that from the refund my husband will get back? And then I pay what I end up owing when I file by myself?
