I received a letter on March 29 stating that the Recovery Rebate Credit was incorrect, that they had changed the return to correct the error and, as a result, I owed an additional $197 (which I have paid).

On your Recovery Rebate Credit Worksheet the problem begins on Line 16 where the amount entered for EIP 1 is incorrect. (EIP 1 was $2,400 received May 2020). It should have been the same as Line 5. Subsequent Lines 17 and 18 are incorrect. Line 19  (EIP 2) is correct. The error on Line 16 resulted in Line 21 value of $1,200.

I electronically filed both FIT and SIT returns on or about Feb 3.

I have received my SIT refund but have NOT received my FIT refund.

Must I (or should I) file an amended FIT return given that IRS said they have corrected it?
