TurboTax Help Line
I called TurboTax Helpline. Discussed my problem with help associate.
I was asked to share my computer screen with the person, which I did.
I had TurboTax (Desktop) open on my screen.
I was in the last phase of tax filing on “File”Tab. Then I was asked to show my “Personal Info” tab. Reluctantly, I showed my Personal Info page which has my name. SS#, DOB, and my home address.
Is it a reasonable question to ask me to show my Personal Info page which has nothing but Name, Address, SS#, and DOB?
At one time, I was even asked to share my entire tax return...but later stopped.
I was also asked to provide my account info in TurboTax.com so I could be helped. I said I never filed taxes through TurboTax.com so there is no tax records there. Not sure what info is there in TurboTax.com so I could be helped. I did not provide my account info in TurboTax.com
Am I in any sort of risk? Has this happened to anyone else? Just wondering!
ps: I got an email from TurboTax asking me to fill out survey questions for this service. It has case ID. I did respond to survey and also stated this particular issue in comment box.
All I wanted was additional information on tax filing date extension to May 17, 2021. For that, I had to show my Personal info screen which has our personal:vital information, was asked to share my entire tax return (later backed down), and also wanted my TurboTax.com account info! All these made me very uncomfortable.
