E-filing with TurboTax Online is a three step process. You will need a credit card, your drivers license, and if you have it, your 2019 tax return.
To start the filing process:
- Log into TurboTax
- From the side menu select FILE
- You'll get the header "just three more steps and we'll file your returns"
As stated there are three steps to file
- Review your order: Review the TurboTax products you used to prepare your taxes and pay with your federal refund or credit card.
- Your refund/payment info
For your Federal and State returns: We’ll help you select your refund and payment methods up next.

Get ready to save and file your returns: Choose which returns to file. We're not filing your taxes just yet. It's okay to click Start
The IRS tax deadline is now May 17, 2021, but you don’t have to wait to file. The IRS encourages taxpayers to file as soon as possible, especially those getting a federal refund.
