Turbotax interprets any number of 5 months or less as "less than half the year", and 6 months as "exactly half the year", so that will prevent a dependent from being a qualifying child dependent, since exactly half is not "more than half." "More than half" is 7 months or longer, but in the case of a newborn, answer "the whole year" as long as the child lived with you since it was born, whenever in the year that happened to be.
