If you didn't file a federal income tax return, to correct a stimulus payment entry, log back on and go through the federal interview again. Once you complete that, TurboTax will do a Federal Review.
- On the Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount screen, select Continue.
- On the Did you get a stimulus payment? screen, select Yes and enter the amounts received.
- Continue with the onscreen interview until complete.
If you filed a federal income tax return and it was accepted by the IRS, per IRS:
- DO NOT file an amended tax return with the IRS. If you entered an amount on line 30 but made a mistake in calculating the amount, the IRS will calculate the correct amount of the Recovery Rebate Credit, make the correction to your tax return and continue processing your return. If a correction is needed, there may be a slight delay in processing your return and the IRS will send you a notice explaining any change made.
Note: The stimulus payments are not taxable income to you.
