Self employed people can still get 1099-Ks
In them, although they are the boss of their own business and themselves, they do answer to someone. It is still considered self employment. Example being gig workers. No one hired them, no one gave them gas or a car to drive them or set their hours. The people set their own hours and decide what work they do. So their employer is doordash or grub hub... another example is eBay, Amazon and Etsy sellers. We all get a 1099k after so many sales and though we make our own sales and prices, we still answer to Amazon, eBay and Etsy
