I am using TurboTax Deluxe, it did not work as you had listed in your very detailed step by step.
I had already entered in the 1099-Misc and 1099-NEC so the forms were populated already.
I did as you said with the less common income and it did work to reduce my tax burden.
My Question: The Lawyers who gave me the 1099-Misc are the ones that actually paid me, and that is the one you have me making negative. The company who sent me the 1099-NEC did not actually pay me they paid the Lawyers who in turn paid me. Shouldn't I be making the 1099-NEC the negative one?
