Extension is not supported by the IRS Free File program, unfortunately. You may download the form from the IRS website free. Click here: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4868.pdf
You may return to TurboTax program to file extension. Here are the steps:
- Sign into your account, select Pick up where you left off
- At the right upper corner, in the search box , type in extension and Enter
- Select Jump to extension
- Follow prompts
Generally, the due date for filing your income taxes is April 15. If you request and are granted an extension, you typically have until October 15 to file you tax return.
- These extensions automatically extend your state income tax deadline as well in some states.
- Other states, like New York, require a separate extension request.
