If your wife started receiving pension distributions, she should have been issued a 1099-R.  

 

If you did not receive this form, you will need to contact your plan administrator to obtain it.  

 

This is important as the amounts reported on these forms are sent to the federal and state taxing agencies and matched to your income tax returns.  Any discrepancies could result in a delay in processing your tax returns.

 

Once you obtain the forms, you will enter the information in the Federal interview section of the program.

  1. Select Income & Expenses 
  2. Scroll down to All Income 
  3. Select show more to the right of Retirement Plans & Social Security 
  4. Select start/revisit to the right of IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) 
  5. To enter additional 1099-R forms, simply select +Add Another 1099-R
