To select Head of Household (HoH) as a filing status, you originally select Single and then as you go through the interview on your dependents, TurboTax will change the status to HoH at the end.
To do this please follow these steps:
- While you are in your return, click My Info in the black bar at the left of your screen.
- Click Edit next to Filing Status.
- On the Let's confirm your marital status screen, select the Single radio button and click Continue.
- On the screen, Your children and others you support make sure the child has Dependent showing in the Status column.
- If they are not listed as a dependent, click Edit next to their name and go through the interview to satisfy the dependent requirements.
- Continue to the screen, Did you pay more than half the cost to keep up your home in 2020? Mark the Yes radio button.
- TurboTax will change your status to Head of Household.
