New laptops may come with the display set to a very high resolution. I saw another user with a new laptop said he successfully lowered his display setting to a medium resolution. I don't remember the exact one he used, but he didn't have to go all the way down to 800x600. Perhaps 800x600 is too low for your laptop. In the Windows 10 display settings there should be a dropdown menu of available resolutions. Try a medium size resolution in that list, or try 1024x768 and keep working up if necessary.
