IRS relief-Taxpayers affected by the winter storms beginning 2/11/21, have until 6/15/21 to file Form 1040 and make payments. Why does return show 4/15/21 and penalties?
On February 22, 2021, the IRS announces tax relief for Texas severe winter storm victims. Victims of winter storms that began February 11, 2021 now have until June 15, 2021, to file various individual and business tax returns and make tax payments. Affected taxpayers that have an estimated income tax payment originally due on or after February 11, 2021, and before June 15, 2021 are postponed through June 15, 2021 will not be subject to penalties for failure to pay estimated tax installments as long as such payments are paid on or before June 15, 2021.
The filing instructions still show an April 15 due date and calculates penalties for payments made later than April 15.
Is there any way to fix this extended due date in TurboTax? I called, but they said TurboTax would still show April 15. This is very misleading and calculates penalties incorrectly. How can I fix this in the return?
