Not sure if this will help you, but it solved it for me. It turns out that unless the foreign tax is more than $300 for singles and $600 for married, you do not need a form 1116. (See article from Turbo Tax called IRS Form 1116). Since my foreign tax was from dividends and much less, I just went into forms and deleted form 1116. That finally solved the error after over almost 2 hours of anguish!
