Thank you Amy for the quick response. Here is my situation below:
I did receive NY income at the beginning of 2020 because I worked there and that's where I lived. That is why I need to file the NY state return.
I do not have a residence in NY anymore, I moved to Mexico in 2020 and I'm still here . I am planning on going back to the US but unsure where.
Also, under my personal info it asks for a mailing address, I put a Texas address because I can receive mail there safely and I do not want to miss any mail from the IRS.
I'm not sure if im putting my residency status correctly because the options that turbo tax gives me based on the information provided don't seem to apply to me. Can you please advise what should I do?
Also, outside of my W-2 it asks for my 1099-DIV/INT income forms what amount comes from NY. I don't have a way to tell that so I am prorating the balances based on the amount of months I lived in NY out of the whole year. Is this correct?
