It depends, to be able to file as head of household you need to meet these requirements:
- Were unmarried as of December 31, 2020 and
- Paid more than half the cost to run your (or a qualifying parent's) home this year (rent, mortgage, utilities, etc.) and
- Supported a qualifying person.
Please make sure your dependent is a qualifying person. and is entered correctly in TurboTax. Answer all head of household questions carefully.
- Login to your TurboTax Account
- Click "My Info" from the left side of your screen
- Click “Edit” next to your dependent's name
- Review all entries carefully.
- Then click "My Info" and click "edit" next to the filing status
- Review all questions carefully.
