I need to find out my 5-digit Identity Theft Protection pin number from last year

Something doesn't gel.   An IP PIN (Identity Protection PIN) is a 6-digit code and a new one is required every year.   If you are required to file with an IP PIN, some filers get a letter from the IRS each year with the new code while other filers have to use the IP PIN Retrieval Tool each year to get their new IP PIN.

So are you required by the IRS to use an IP PIN each year?    If that's your situation, the 6-digit IP PIN Retrieval tool is at this page:

https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin

If that's not your situation, then you need to explain more, and why did you say 5 digits instead of 6 digits?  Are you confusing it with something else?

The IP PIN is not entered in the FILE section during efiling.    In the FILE section it may ask you to enter a 5-digit Self-Select PIN (aka "Signature ID) to sign the return (which can be the same as last year, but doesn't have to be), but that is not an IP PIN.  On the screen with the Signature ID (Self-Select PIN), it will tell you that you can enter 5 digits of your choice.

An IP PIN is 6 digits and entered in a different part of the interview.  If you are required to use an IP PIN, you have to enter the IP PIN in the proper interview section.  We can tell you where and how to enter it once you have it (if applicable.)

Then during efiling you will also have to verify the efiling either with your 2019 AGI or by using the 5-digit Self-Select PIN that you used last year.   Most people use the AGI field to verify their efile and enter their 2019 AGI.

We can tell you more, but so far we do not understand your situation and what you are doing.
