Get your taxes done using TurboTax

It's not completely clear what you are referring to and what the "second time" means, or what the $119 for both means.    So I'll talk about the fee structure in both Online TurboTax and in the desktop software, and if the info doesn't answer your question, then you'll need to explain in more detail.

The Premier Edition from Best Buy is a desktop product (CD/download) and is quite a bit different than Online TurboTax.   I'll tell you what all it includes farther down in this posting.

.

Are you using Online Premier?   That's what is displayed below your question above.   So I'll assume that's what you are using.   If so, here are typical fees in that online product:

  • Federal return preparation:   $70 (increases to $90 in March if not locked in before then by paying in advance)
  • State return preparation:  $40 (increases to $50 in March, if not locked in before then by paying in advance)
  • Option to pay fees out of the Federal refund:  $40 (or $45 for California filers.)   That service fee can be avoided by declining that option and paying by credit/debit card.
  • Plus possible sales taxes.

With the desktop Premier (CD/download) purchased from Best Buy, other authorized retailers, or directly from TurboTax,  you can prepare multiple Federal returns with up to 5 Federal efiles.   Desktop Premier also includes a state program, with which one can prepare as many state returns as needed of that same state.    There is a $20 fee to efile each state return (increases to $25 in March), except there is no state efile fee for New York state.  There is no fee to print and mail the state returns.

The desktop version also has the benefit of Forms Mode, which allows for viewing of forms during return preparation, and even editing of some.
