Medical costs (including RX and health insurance premiums) are only deductible on your tax return if you itemize deductions instead of taking the standard deduction on your return.  For 2018, the standard deduction amounts increased quite a bit to $12,000 for single/married filing separate, $18,000 for head of household and $24,000 for married filing joint.  Therefore, if your RX and health insurance premiums, along with any other itemized deductions, did not total more than the standard deduction amount, then TurboTax would recommend you take the standard deduction.  This would then mean the itemized deduction detail would not be included on your return. 

State tax laws vary as to whether they adopted the 2018 tax law reform changes, but if a state did, it may have beneficial for the state to use the standard deduction as well.
