- Go through the screens until you come to the question: Did you experience identity theft and receive an Identity Protection Pin (IP PIN) from the IRS?
- Select Yes, I did and continue through the screens to input your pin and answer the question for identify theft affidavit.
- If you see a screen that says you have a W-2c coming, just ignore that screen. Continue through all screen until another Review and File again.
An Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) is a six-digit number that prevents someone else from filing a tax return using your Social Security number. The IP PIN is known only to you and the IRS and helps us verify your identity when you file your electronic or paper tax return.
