Get your taxes done using TurboTax
We had to rent out our house for a year while we moved to Maryland to take be with our adult daughter who had Stage 4 breast cancer. She passed away in March so we ended up moving back into our house at the end of 2020 when our lease was up. So, when I had to include the house as rental income on taxes and do all the write offs, depreciation, etc., it kept multiplying the rental income. I deleted and deleted until it was correct. However, the program kept referring me back to that "work around" that Turbo published for Schedule E instead of finalizing it. I spent at least 3 days working on this!!! After the additional time spent online with reps and then on the phone, to no avail, I lost all my patience. The HR Block program was so much easier and streamlined. It also cost me less in the long run. When I do my taxes next year, we won't have rental income so I'm just going to use a free program. There was no issue with Turbo last year with the Schedule E (we had a partial year of rental income). I had a bad enough year with everything we went through, COVID, moving back into our house, that I didn't need to fight with Turbo. Ridiculous and unacceptable.
