You have a standard deduction for unearned income of $1,100 (for dependent filers) and earned income of $12,400. If your income is under those amounts, then you don't have to file a tax return in most instances. Also, you need to file a tax return if your self-employment income is over $400.
So, you need to determine what type of income it is to determine if you have to file a tax return.
Unearned income is income you receive from investments and prizes and other things you don't expend much effort to receive. It is normally reported on a form 1099-MISC.
Self-employment income is typically from services your provide or goods you sell. It is normally reported on a form 1099-NEC.
