Get your taxes done using TurboTax

The W2 and 1099-MISC will be entered at two separate locations.

 

For the W2-

If you want to manually enter your W-2 info, we make it easy for you.

  1. From Tax Home, open or continue your return.
  2. In the upper right menu, select  and search for W-2.
  3. Select the Jump to link at the top of the search results.
  4. At the Let's start with some info from this W?2 screen, don’t enter your employer's EIN, just select Continue.
    1. Or, Add Another W-2 if you see the Here’s your W-2 info screen.
  5. On the Let’s type in the rest of your W-2 info screen, you can manually enter your W-2 information.

For the 1099-MISC-

 enter a 1099-MISC in TurboTax:

  1. Open or continue your return, if you're not already in it.
  2. Search for 1099-misc and select the Jump-to link.
  3. Answer Yes to Did you get a 1099-MISC?
    • If you already entered a 1099-MISC, you'll be on the 1099-MISC Summary screen, in which case select Add Another 1099-MISC.
    • If you need to edit or delete a previously-entered 1099-MISC, select the appropriate button.
  4. Enter the info from your form into the corresponding boxes.
    • If you need to enter boxes 4–6 or 8–17, check My form has other info in boxes 1–17 to expand the form.

Regarding cash/checks-

 

Taxpayers must report all income from any source and any country unless it is explicitly exempt under the U.S. tax code. There may be taxable income from certain transactions even if no money changes hands.

Generally, the IRS considers all income received in the form of money, property or services to be taxable income unless the law specifically provides an exemption.
