I’m running Windows 10 Home, Version 10.0.19042 OS Build 19042. I’ve attempted numerous times to download and install TurboTax 2020 Business Edition.
In every attempt to start the .exe file there is an immediate error displayed “failed to extract archive.” I have taken numerous steps to resolve this issue without success. These efforts include:
- Updating Microsoft Windows
- Always attempted to run .exe file as an Administrator (despite my account being the Admin)
- Disabled Microsoft Defender SmartScreen for both the system and Microsoft Edge
- Turned Firewall and security programs/virus protection programs off
- Ran SFC /Scannow to check system files
- Deleted the downloaded file
- Removed all ckz* files in Temp folder before running .exe file again
- Restarted computer in Selective Mode and tried to run the .exe file
- Attempted download using different browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge
- Attempted to download TurboTax on two different PC computers with same efforts listed above.
Each and every time I run the .exe file I still get the message “failed to extract archive.” The TT installer starts and either gets two progress through the process and then quits within 2-5 seconds.
I have searched the Internet as well as contacting TT support for solutions to this problem but desperately need knowledgeable assistance to resolve this issue.
