Form 8949 "Sales and other Dispositions of Capital Assets" is a form used to reconcile amounts that were reported to you and the IRS on a Form 1099-B or 1099-S. The subtotals from this form will then be carried over to Schedule D of Form 1040 where capital gain or loss will be calculated.
Did you receive a Form 1099-B or report any sale of assets? If you do not believe this form apply to you, you can simply remove it from the program. Here are the steps:
1. Sign into your account, select Pick up where you left off
2. Select Tax Tools, click on the drop down arrow
3. Select Tools
4. Under Other helpful links, choose Delete a form
5. Select Delete next to the Form 8949 or related schedules and worksheets and Continue with My Return
