Be patient. If you list the child on your tax return as a new dependent this year, the additional stimulus payments will be added to your refund. However, the section of the program is not ready. The IRS does not open e-filing until January 27 or later and the second stimulus payment may be sent out up until January 15, and you need to know the amount of both stimulus payments that you actually received before you can file your return and claim any extra. So be patient and don’t expect to file your return before January 27. Check the program or the website for updates sometime after January 15.
