I heard from a friend that parents with children 18 who are fulltime students can claim those students as dependents to get $500 refund. How can I do that ?

My tax return says my 18 year old son is declared as dependent. Is that it or can I still get additional $500 ? My friend claimed her 22 year old daughter using 1040-x and got $500 refund. I
