The fact Gloria did not file a tax return in 2018 doesn't matter. However, if Gloria was single and and has never e-filed a tax return before, enter an AGI of ZERO and make up a 5-digit PIN number.  Do not forget this PIN number, Gloria will need that same PIN number every year that she e-files.

If Gloria was included as a tax filer (not a dependent, but a *TAX* *FILER* on *ANY* prior year tax return that was e-filed, then she'll use the same exact PIN number used in past year or years.

What is the PIN number

PIN = Personal Identification Number: A 5-digit number used as on of three methods to confirming the identity of a tax filer. The first time a person *EVER* e-files a tax return, they will basically "make-up" a 5-digit PIN once they have confirmed their identity to the IRS with the other two methods of identity verification. The other two methods are:

 - State driver's license number or other state issued identification

 - AGI of the prior year's tax return. If the tax filer did not file a prior year tax return, then the AGI will be ZERO. If the tax filer did file a prior year tax return, then they use the AGI on line 7 of the 2018 (twenty eighteen) form 1040. It does not matter if the 2018 form was joint either.

If one does not have a driver's license or state issued ID, then one can still e-file by selecting the "I don't have a license or ID" option. However, you can expect processing of any refund due to be delayed quite significantly while the IRS confirms the identity of the tax filer, if they have reason to question it.
